Q: Why are some doo-rag styles/colors shown with a "NOT AVAILABLE" on the photo?
A: The style/color has been available in the past, but the fabric became unavailable, making additional doo-rag construction impossible. Fabrics sometimes become available again later, making the style/color once again available, and the "NOT AVAILABLE" will be removed from the photo.
Q: Can I buy ThayerRags™ Fabric Center (fabrics, notions, craft supplies) items online?
A: Yes, providing that you can select your fabric, notions, & craft supplies by Manufacturer & Number, or some other method without the benefit of us having an on-line catalog yet. We have only our custom-made products cataloged on-line at the present time, along with a few fabrics and trims. Use the BUY T-RAGS link at the top of most pages to go to the on-line sales area. Email us or phone us to inquire about pricing and availability (see contact information below) on items not yet shown in the on-line sales area. Allow plenty of time for an email reply, as we only check our email after hours. Shipping will be an additional expense. Payment can be made using PayPal. Sales Tax will be additional for all shipments to Oklahoma addresses.
Q: Do you plan on keeping ThayerRags™ Fabric Center as a fabric and notions shop?
A: Yes. We plan to continue adding new fabric and notion inventory to the existing new and vintage stock, providing a large selection of products.
Q: Do you sell Fat Quarters for Quilt Makers at ThayerRags™ Fabric Center?
A: Yes, we do. We will cut Fat Quarters from any of our in-stock fabrics. Minimum purchase is only one Fat Quarter (we cut two when we cut one), priced at 1/4 of the regular price per yard.
Q: What's a Fat Quarter?
A: A Fat Quarter is a quarter yard of fabric cut with the dimensions of (minimum) 18" x 22" rather than 9" x 44". Basically, it's a half yard of fabric cut in half to produce 2 quarters that are more square and usable pieces of fabric.
Q: When is ThayerRags™ Fabric Center open?
A: Our "brick & mortar" store is normally open Tuesday through Friday, from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM, including lunch time, with few exceptions. See our Hours of Operation for more details about the exceptions. We're open sometimes for Holidays or Special Events in our community, and are closed sometimes for vacation or buying trips. We try to give a 3-4 week notice about any change in operating hours, and we do it on our Hours of Operation web page. Our on-line store is open 24/7 for email and phone (answering machine after hours) inquiries.
Q: When your fabric is priced by the yard, do I have to buy a 36" piece to get some?
A: No, you can buy any portion of a yard, from a few inches in length up to the quantity of inches/feet/yards on our bolt or tube of fabric. For example, if the piece needed is 1/4 of a yard, then the price per yard is divided by 4. The portion of fabric that you want is cut by us, by hand with scissors, from a continuous piece of fabric. Be aware that if you want a 4" strip of fabric for instance, the edges will be jagged and not perfectly straight nor exactly 4" in size for the entire width of the fabric (width will vary from fabric to fabric, and is most commonly 44-45", 54", or 60" in width). You will have to trim the edges for uniformity. We always cut long so that the cut is at least the required length at its narrowest point. We cut 37" yards just to make sure we're cutting a full yard. This does not hold true when we are cutting panels. We cut each panel as closely to the center between panels as possible, to avoid damaging the next panel on the bolt. When panel-type fabric is priced by the yard, the price per yard is calculated by the length of the panel.
Q: Is ThayerRags™ Fabric Center a real store, or one of those "Virtual On-line" stores?
A: Yes, we're a real "brick & mortar" store. As a matter of fact, that's the material that was used to construct our store building years and years ago. About the only thing "Virtual" about or store, is our Virtual Tour web page, where you can view snapshot photos taken inside of our store. We don't have any plans of establishing an "On-line Store" with shopping cart and checkout at this time, although some of our merchandise can be purchased by on-line customers. Q: What makes the Annual Quilter’s Day Quilt show different from other quilt shows?
A: The Annual Quilter’s Day Quilt Show was originally conceived, and continues to be, a purely social event put on by area Quilters for area Quilters. The “Show” could possibly be more comparable to a “quilt airing” than to a full-blown quilt show, in that there are no retail activities taking part on the grounds during the show. There are no retail booths where quilting items, fabric, and other quilting supplies are sold. There is no judging of the show items for prizes or awards. The 1-day, 6-hr event is merely a place to show quilting works for the enjoyment of the viewer. Quilt items are brought in for showing the morning of the event, and taken away the afternoon of the event. All entry participants are encouraged to remain at the show while their quilt items are on display, or remove their items if they are unable to stay for the duration of the event. Another feature of the event is that non-completed entries are accepted, and even encouraged, unlike most shows that limit entries to completed items only. Unfinished tops, blocks, or craft items are all welcomed show entries.
Q: I sent an email requesting information about ordering several days ago, but I haven't gotten a response. Why?
A: In most cases, we respond ASAP to inquiries about our products. However, our return messages have been blocked by some email systems (see "I got an unwanted email from your domain" below.), and our reply may never reach you. AOL (America Online) is one of those email systems that has blocked us. If you send us an aol.com email address, we probably can't answer you, although we always try. We have had some luck getting messages into AOL when folks have their email set to automatically add us to their Address Book when they send us a message, but since we don't have AOL, we can't actually give you instructions on how to set your system. Other systems may consider our message as Spam and not deliver it to your inbox. Your own email settings may block or delete our message. Try resending the message using a different email system (googlemail, hotmail or yahoo for example), or check your Spam filter. Those of you using Auto-Responders to screen your email can probably guess why you didn't receive our response.
Q: I got an unwanted email from your domain. Why did you send that to me?
A: This Domain has been a victim of "Domain Pirates" that use our domain name to send
Spam and other junk mail. The junk mail is NOT coming from this domain.
There are no marketing emails sent out from this domain, unless you have
specifically requested to be placed on our mailing list, and knowingly gave us
your email address for that use. We are one of many domains that some person has decided to use for unsolicited crap sent out through the email network.
The only thing good that can be said about this activity, is that they always pick "reputable" domains to pirate, but that's little comfort to you or to us.
We regret that you've received an unsolicited email, but rest assured that it DID NOT come from us.
At this time, there is no way for us to stop this unauthorized activity. Maybe someday we'll be able to catch the people that are doing it.
Q: Why can't I find a "Shopping Cart" on your website?
A: We have no shopping cart on our site as of yet. As a small retailer, it would be difficult to maintain enough inventory to sustain both our walk-in purchases and online purchases like the large chain stores operate. The majority of the other online fabric retailers are online only, which means they have no "Brick & Mortar" facility whereby inventory levels can be altered at any moment. Besides that, we believe that most fabric shoppers still like to feel the fabric to determine the quality.
