This machine probably came out as a treadle machine originally, and then was converted to electric (by the looks of the motor that is labeled as a "Standard", and the light is too new for the age of the machine).  It probably would have had a spoked hand wheel on it that would have worked with an electric motor, so I'm not sure why the wheel was replaced with a smaller solid wheel.

Also, take a close look at the decals.  The arm and bed center decals look like the Paperclip pattern, while the border decals (around the edge of the bed) look like the Knots & Rectangles pattern.  Were the Paperclip decals even around in 1918?  Has the machine been repainted, or did it come out of the Elizabethport factory this way?  If the machine is a repaint by Singer, why would they not paint the entire machine during rehab, and apply all new decals?  If the machine is a repaint by an individual, where did they get the new decals, and wouldn't you think that the border would have as much need for repaint and new decals as the center of the bed and the arm? Hmmm.
